Who the Hell Do You Think You Are?

Hello world! It's good to be back.

I've spent the last few weeks in talks (and texts, and Discord messages) with BoundBDSM, and finally can reveal to you all our new partnership! My coaching services are available through their website HERE. Cue me squealing and bouncing and generally being a nuisance.

"But Anneke!" you shout, "Who even are you? Why should we care?"

Excellent question!

Let's start with the basics. What are my qualifications?

I am...

  • a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA),
  • working on becoming a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC),
  • a BA in linguistics and education,
  • an MS in behavior analysis, and...
  • really goddamn weird.
"Okay, fair enough," you might follow up with, "but what are you doing here?"

I'm coaching! Specifically, I'm doing relationship coaching with a focus on LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and/or kinky individuals!

"Huh?"

Life coaching is...

  • a goal-oriented approach to progress,
  • individually tailored to each person,
  • based in curiosity and inquiry to your underlying beliefs,
  • an ongoing process
However, there are a lot of misconceptions around the term! So just to be clear:

Life coaching is NOT...

  • counseling/therapy,
  • a treatment for mental health disorders,
  • advice, or...
  • a protected term.

It me!

I am LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kinky!

I definitely would have liked someone like me to guide my introduction to the broader community years ago, and I had the thought one day, "Why couldn't that be me?"

Now that I can sense you're slowly coming around to the idea, I should introduce myself more fully.

In the vanilla realm, I'm a giant nerd. I love musical theater, video games, and anime. My hobbies include embroidery, pole dancing, knitting, reading, resin art, and singing. I'm involved in two separate D&D campaigns and am the proud caretaker of two cats and eight spider plants.

In the kink realm, I'm.... well, we did a whole interview on exactly what I am, but you'll have to be good and wait to hear that, now won't you?

On April 19th, my interview with them is going live about the intersection of life coaching and kink, where I discuss my approach and how I avoid accidentally treading into Domme territory (let's leave that to the professionals!). Afterwards there's going to be a live Q&A where I answer audience questions about my services. I hope to see and hear lots of you there.

Misogyny, or, Another Disappointing Message

 I just had the strangest experience. Well, honestly, it was just your garden-variety misogyny. But it still felt very strange. I had a consultation with a potential client. He was looking for a specific type of relationship, but all avenues had failed him thus far. I did a little probing, a little coaching, a little description of the process, all my usual consultation stuff. When we hung up, I felt fairly sure he wasn't going to hire me, but I still felt good about the process. The next day he texts me that he doesn't think he's a good candidate for coaching. Totally fair! Some people aren't ready yet to take that step. I wish him well and tell him to not be a stranger if he sees me at events. Why I'm Abandoning My BCBA

Why I'm Abandoning My BCBA As of June 2024, I am no longer a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. That goddamn certification took me a Master’s degree, years of work, a gnarly exam, and more money than I care to disclose in a public forum.  I chose it, so why am I ditching it? This camel has been taking o n straw for a long time. I think the answer can only be found if we go all the way back.
